Our first week of ministry was super sweet! My team is working with an organization called Whispering Willow which aids and supports victims of human trafficking. Our tasks are many and different. We have mostly been working in a coffee shop that is associated with Whispering Willow. This coffee shop sells merchandise that has been made by marginalized women.
It has been absolutely amazing to see how we have but crumbs to give God and yet He prepares a whole meal with what we have! It is truly a story of fish and loaves that result in overflowing abundance. He takes skills we never thought would be used in ministry and uses them in a larger scale. For example, Payton was a Starbucks barista for 6 years, grew up sowing and mending her siblings clothes and likes to draw. Now she has created new drinks for the coffee shop, helps us in sowing the notebooks we are making and will be painting an informational graphic at the health clinic. Alex has been learning to play guitar on her own for a little bit and Linnea is good at keeping a melody in a song so God has taken that and given them the courage to lead worship with me on a Friday service they have for the women. Jenny works on a boat analyzing data and now she is creating a spreadsheet to organize data for another sister company.
This week has been absolutely amazing! We have time to plan, practice worship, share meals and make 300 journals that will be given to the attendees of an international human trafficking prevention conference!
Zee, your trip is truly ordained by God and you are touching so many lives. I love the journals you are sewing . Thank you for your faithfulness to the Lord.
I will pray for you along with Nancy and Colin Millar this morning.
